Eruzione joined ABC Sports Radio to discuss that moment in time.

“Just a great bunch of guys that experienced something that was very special,” said Eruzione, who scored late in the third period to give Team USA a 4-3 lead.  “Over the years you realize that not only was it a great moment for me and my teammates, but it was a great moment for our country.”

Eruzione’s white No. 21 jersey, hockey stick, and other paraphernalia from the “Miracle on Ice” will be auctioned off on Feb. 23 in New York.

“The main reason was I thought this would be a great opportunity for me to put some money away for my kids and my grandkids,” Eruzione said.  “The medal is what it’s all about.  The medal will never be sold while I’m alive, but the equipment was actually sitting in a trunk in my attic and I felt this was a great opportunity to leave something for my children.”

Eruzione believes the Americans can win the gold at the 2014 games in Sochi, Russia.
