The 32-year-old Gasol will be examined Thursday by team doctors, who the Lakers say will determine a timetable for the four-time All-Star’s return.

Gasol tweeted Wednesday, “I’m hoping to recover asap so I can be back with the team and keep fighting until the end of the season. #GoLakers #AlwaysPositive”

In the fourth quarter of the Lakers 92-83 win over the Brooklyn Nets Tuesday, Gasol said he heard a pop in his foot when he jumped to block the Net’s Brook Lopez’s shot. Gasol fell to the ground for a bit before getting up and continuing to play. He was able to make it up and down the floor once before head coach Mike D’Antoni took him out of the game.

The injury didn’t come out of nowhere. Gasol has experienced painful swelling in the foot throughout the season.

Gasol is averaging 13.4 points, eight rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game this season.
