Penn State (9-18, 1-14) got its first Big Ten win of the season and its first in its last 19 games.

“It goes back to your 0-14,” Penn State head coach Patrick Chambers said. “These kids could have mailed it in. …They could have been making plans for spring break and they didn’t. They kept grinding…they kept wanting to get better. I’m so happy for them.”

Michigan (23-5) held a 15 point lead with 10:19 left in the game, but Penn State’s Jermaine Marshall scored 13 of his game high 25 points from that point on leading the Nittany Lions to victory.

The win was Penn State’s first over a top-5 team since it beat No. 5 North Carolina in the second round of the 2001 NCAA tournament.

Tim Hardaway Jr. had 19 points in the loss.
