Tray Woodall had 13 points and four assists to lead Pittsburgh past No. 6 Syracuse, 65-55 on Saturday at the Petersen Events Center.

“In everybody’s eyes there’s this huge difference (between Pitt and Syracuse) but we felt we’d lost some close games, they won some close games,” Panthers head coach Jamie Dixon said. “You can’t panic.”

The Panthers (18-5) held a 39-24 rebound advantage, and held the Orange to 36 percent shooting. “They’re a tremendous defensive team, knew we were going to have trouble scoring against them,” Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim said. “When the game was in doubt, we had some opportunities and didn’t finish.”

The win gave the Panthers a 13-1 record against Top 10 teams at home since the Petersen Events Center opened.
