The Toronto Raptors rookie swingman edged out defending champion Jeremy Evans Saturday night, when he jumped over a ball boy while throwing the ball through his legs and slamming it home with his right hand.

The final round between Ross and Evans was determined by fan vote. Ross received 58 percent of it for the win.

For his first dunk in the final round Ross paid tribute to the 2000 dunk contest champion Vince Carter. Ross, wearing a throwback Vince Carter Raptors’ jersey, came from behind the backboard, catching a pass off the glass before windmill slamming the ball.

“I just felt like Vince is the best to do it,” Ross said on why he paid tribute to him. “I tried doing his dunks…just put my own little flavor on it. It’s just a homage to him and how great his dunks were.”
