Rigby Woman Gets 12 Years for Tax Fraud

(RIGBY, ID)  —   Rigby woman has been sentenced to 12 years in prison on federal tax fraud charges. Penny Jones, along with five other people from three other states filed more than 380 false tax returns in 2008. Jones and her cohorts allegedly worked with as many as 180 clients in the scheme, all of whom face substantial civil penalties. Officials say the funds from the false returns were specifically targeted to help clients pay off mortgages, credit cards, student loans, and other personal debts.
