South African Reality TV Show Premieres with Slain Girlfriend of Oscar Pistorius

WALDO SWIEGERS/AFP/Getty Images(JOHANNESBURG) — The producers of the South African reality TV show Tropika Island of Treasure said they decided to go ahead with the pre-recorded program featuring the deceased girlfriend of Oscar Pistorius, Reeva Steenkamp.
After much deliberation, the producers were given permission from Steenkamp’s family to broadcast the show. The TV show’s premiere is on Saturday night.
Steenkamp was a model, who campaigned against rape and the abuse of women.
A memorial service for Steenkamp is scheduled for next Tuesday, the same day that her accused murderer and former boyfriend, Paralympics star Oscar Pistorius, is due back in court.
