Super Bowl 47: Older Brother Beats Younger in Emotional Battle of the Harbaughs

Ezra Shaw/Getty Images(NEW ORLEANS) –While I’m sure winning the Super Bowl was great for John Harbaugh, having to beat his brother Jim didn’t seem to be his favorite thing.
The two head coaches teams squared off in a thriller of a game, with John’s Baltimore Ravens holding off his little brother Jim’s San Francisco 49ers, 34-31.
After the game the two shared a handshake at midfield.
“The meeting in the middle with Jim was probably the most difficult thing I’ve done or been associated with in my life,” John said.
Father Jack Harbaugh, who seemed thrilled earlier in the week that his two sons were squaring off, didn’t sound as happy after the game.
“To watch the sidelines and realize that someone you love…and someone you have such great pride in…and someone you’ve experienced every type of emotion you can experience…to be competing on this stage…It was I wouldn’t say gut wrenching is way to strong of a word,” Jack said. “Very, very emotional. The pride that I have for Jim is equal to that of John.”
