Super Bowl: Average Viewer Downs 1200 Calories, 50 Grams of Fat
Published at(NEW YORK) — Super Bowl 47 may have experienced a power outage, but there was no shortage of eating at game viewing parties Sunday.
According to the Snack Food Association, Super Bowl viewers scarfed down an estimated 30 million pounds of snacks on Sunday.
The breakdown is as follows:
- Potato chips, 11.2 million pounds
- Tortilla chips, 8.2 million pounds
- Pretzels, 4.3 million pounds
- Popcorn, 3.8 million pounds
- Nuts, 2.5 million pounds
Add in pizza, beer, wings and everything else fans nosh on and the Calorie Control Council estimates that the average viewer will have consumed 1,200 calories and 50 grams of fat on Super Bowl Sunday.
