Tiger Woods Prepares For Match Play
Published at(MARANA, Ariz.) — Tiger Woods is set to tee off in this week’s WGC: Accenture Match Play Championship at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club as he prepares for The Masters in April.
The 14-time major champion has won the event three times, in 2003, 2004 and 2008. He will open against two-time PGA Tournament winner Charles Howell III on Wednesday.
Woods says he has one goal for the tournament: “That’s the only reason why I enter events, to win. It’s not to make the cut, or finish top ten or even second, it’s to win the event.”
Two-time major champion Rory McIlroy is the top seed in the event; he will take on Shane Lowry of Ireland in the first round.
