(KANSAS CITY, Mo.) — The top-seeded Kansas Jayhawks (31-5) cruised past the eighth-seeded North Carolina Tar Heels (25-11) 70-58 on Sunday to advance to the Sweet 16 in the South Region.
Jayhawks guard Travis Releford had 22 points and eight rebounds in the win. Jeff Withey added 16 points and 16 rebounds in the victory.
North Carolina led 30-21 at the half, but Kansas outscored them 49-28 in the second.
P.J. Hairston put in 15 points and collected nine rebounds in the loss for the Tar Heels.
Kansas will now take on the fourth-seeded Michigan Wolverines.
