C.J. Fair had 13 points to lead fourth-seeded Syracuse past the No. 13 seed Montana Grizzlies, 81-34 on Thursday night in the second round of the NCAA tournament.

Brandon Triche also added 20 points for the Orange (27-9).

“It was just one of those games where they had a game where they couldn’t do anything right and everything fell right for us,” Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim said.

The Grizzlies (25-7) were limited to just 15 points in the first half. “We didn’t come out how we pictured it,” Montana forward Spencer Coleman said. “We came out soft.”

Point guard Michael Carter-Williams had 9 assists for Syracuse, who will take on No. 12 seed California on Saturday.
