(SALT LAKE CITY) — Senior guard Malcom Armstead scored 22 points and had five assists as (9) Wichita State (27-8) defeated (8) Pittsburgh (24-9), 73-55 in the second round of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament on Thursday.
“By the end of the day, it’s just basketball,” Armstead said after the game. “Yes, it’s a good feeling to be playing in the NCAA tournament, but you just got to go out and perform in every game and play to the best of your abilities.”
Shockers junior forward Cleanthony Early added 21 points and pulled down a team high seven rebounds, while teammate senior forward Carl Hall contributed 11 points.
Freshman center Steven Adams led the Panthers with 13 points.
