Allen Craig, St. Louis Cardinals Agree on Five-Year Deal
Published at(JUPITER, Fla.) — The St. Louis Cardinals and first baseman Allen Craig agreed to a $31 million, five-year contract on Friday. The deal could be worth $43 million over six seasons.
Craig had 22 home runs and 92 RBIs in 2012 following an offseason surgery on his right knee.
“I think he’s proven he’s the type of player that, when he’s in the lineup, can make an impact,” Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak said.
Craig’s 2012 performance came after he hit three homers in the 2011 World Series against the Rangers and had three go-ahead RBI’s as well in the series, which tied a MLB record.
