The Blackhawks extended their NHL-record season-opening points streak to 22 games, with a 2-1 shootout victory over the Detroit Red Wings on Sunday.

Kane’s goal tied the game with 2:02 in regulation. He also had the only goal of the shootout for the surging Blackhawks.

“We keep finding a way to keep ourselves in the game or win it at the end,” Kane said.

Corey Crawford was tremendous, stopping 32 shots  and only allowing a goal to Detroit’s Tomas Tatar.  He did not allow a goal in the shootout, helping the Blackhawks to their ninth-straight victory.

“He had several big saves, particularly right after they scored to go up one,” Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville said. “He kept us in there to make it a one-goal game and gave us a chance.”

The Blackhawks are now 12-0-3 in one-goal games.
