(IDAHO FALLS, ID) – A car chase that ended with a near-fatal accident in Idaho Falls Thursday night started with stolen gas.  Investigators say 19-year-old Brett Karinen filled his car with just over $57 in gas from the Maverik on Sunnyside and Ammon Roads before speeding off without paying for it. Police engaged Karinen in a pursuit, which ended at the intersection of Holmes and 17th Street, when Karinen hit another car.  A Mother and Daughter were in the other car, and were taken to EIRMC with injuries.   Britny Rolston, and her 13-year old daughter Kennedy had a variety of broken bones and laserations.   They remain hospitalized in fair condition.   Karinen is in the Bonneville County jail on felony eluding charges.
