The deal is reportedly worth $66 million and will keep the 27-year-old Getzlaf in Anaheim through the 2020-21 season.  The Ducks are the only NHL team he has ever played for.

“It’s always been my goal to be here,” Getzlaf said Friday. “I’ve always envisioned myself playing for one team, especially this organization. It’s been great to me. It’s nice to be settled in and knowing that I’m going to be here for a long time.”

Getzlaf would have been a free agent this summer. but instead he and team general manager Bob Murray agreed to the longest contract extension allowed under the new CBA.

The Ducks won the 2007 Stanley Cup with Getzlaf leading the charge and he was named team captain in 2010.
