Rose recently spoke to ESPN’s Doris Burke and reported that even though Rose is taking part in full contact practices recently, his hamstrings are “on fire” after the sessions. Rose also told Burke that he won’t return until this issue has passed.

In last year’s playoffs, Rose tore his ACL and hasn’t been on the court since. Bulls’ head coach Tom Thibodeau has yet to make any commitment to Rose’s return.

“We’ll cross that bridge when we get there,” Thibodeau said. “For us right now the guys that are playing have to concentrate on their improvement and our next opponent. Derrick has to concentrate on his rehab. And until that changes that’s the way it has to be and that’s the way we’re approaching it.”

Rose, a former MVP, played in 39 games last season and averaged 21.8 points and 7.9 assists per game.
