Wells is expected to waive his no-trade clause and ESPN is also reporting that a deal should become official within 72 hours. Wells is in the sixth year of a seven-year, $126 million contract, and the Angels are expected to pay out a majority of Wells’ remaining $21 million owed over the next two seasons.

“It’d be a huge change,” Wells said. “I don’t think it’s ever easy saying goodbye, but at the same time, if this were to happen, it’s a good group of guys over there. I’ll just get to know a new family.”

In his prime, Wells was a multiple time All-Star outfielder, but has struggled to regain that form in recent years. But with injuries to Alex Rodriguez, Curtis Granderson, Derek Jeter, and Mark Teixeira among others, Wells will provide some much needed offense.

Wells has dealt with injuries to his shoulders, wrists, and hamstrings that resulted in him batting just .230 with 11 home runs.
