Hamlin will not require surgery.

Hamlin was injured during the final lap of last weekend’s Sprint Cup race at Fontana when he and former teammate Joey Logano crashed.

The two drivers were dueling for first and Logano ended up spinning Hamlin out.

“He raced me really hard really the entire event,” Hamlin told USA Today Sports when talking about Logano. “At the end I think he saw that I was going to win, and he wasn’t going to let that happen.”

The crash sent Hamlin’s car into the inside retaining wall which his car hit head-on. After the crash, Hamlin got out of the car and collapsed to the ground. He was then airlifted to local hospital.

JGR hasn’t made up its mind on who will race the #11 car while Hamlin’s out, but one name being thrown around is current Nationwide driver Elliott Sadler.
