(LEXINGTON, KY) — Vander Blue has done it again.
His driving layup with one second left rallied third-seeded Marquette to a 59-58 win over No. 14 Davidson on Thursday in the NCAA tournament.
“All I was thinking was, `if I get to the rim, I have to finish,” Blue said after the game. “I’m not ready to go home, I know our team’s not ready to go home.
Marquette (24-8) rallied from a nine-point second-half deficit to top the Wildcats. Blue and guard Jamil Wilson hit consecutive three-pointers to bring them within 58-57 with 11 seconds left.
A costly turnover for Davidson (26-8) with five seconds left gave Marquette the opportunity to win the game, and Blue took full advantage. He led the Golden Eagles with 16 points.
Marquette advances to take on No. 6 Butler, who topped 11th ranked Bucknell earlier Thursday.
