Is Katharine McPhee Giving Up on “Smash”?

Patrick Randak/NBC(NEW YORK) — Is Katharine McPhee on the verge on parting ways with NBC’s ailing Broadway musical drama Smash?
The question surfaced after the New York Daily News quoted a source who said McPhee “refuses to do any interviews pertaining to Smash now.”
The insider continued, “She’ll only talk about magazines she’s in and her music. She knows [Smash] was a failure and she doesn’t want her name linked to it, because nothing she has done has been a big hit. She wanted to break through and be a big star by the time she was 30.”
However, E! reports the former American Idol singer’s people deny any truth in the story.
Smash will move to Saturday nights, starting on April 6. NBC has not made any announcement regarding the fate of the series after this season.
