(WASHINGTON) — Jobless claims wrapped up the month of February by falling to 340,000 last week, the Labor Department reported on Thursday.
For the week ending March 2, the number of people filing for benefits dropped 7,000 from the previous week’s tally of 347,000.
The four-week average also decreased by the same amount — 7,000 — to end at 348,750, the lowest level in five years.
Americans will get a better picture of how the jobs market fared in February when the Labor Department releases its monthly employment report at 8:30 a.m. ET on Friday.
