Irish Guardsman Lee Wheeler asked the mother-to-be if she knew the gender of her baby, and she replied, “Not yet,” according to several reports.

“She said, ‘I’d like to have a boy and William would like a girl,’” Wheeler said.  He also added that she told him the royal couple had not yet decided on names for the baby.

The former Kate Middleton was wearing a knee-length green coat with a gold shamrock brooch and a sprig of shamrocks pinned to her coat.  At one point, she laughed as her heel got stuck in a grate and she leaned on her husband for support while she freed her shoe.

The duke and duchess were fulfilling a centuries-old tradition of handing out sprigs of shamrocks to Irish Guards at Mons Barracks in Aldershot, Hampshire.

Middleton is five months pregnant and expected to give birth in July.  The baby will be third in line to the British throne.

Her baby bump recently began showing after a rocky start to her pregnancy.  She spent four nights in the hospital in December for hyperemesis gravidarum, an acute morning sickness that required her to have supplementary hydration and nutrients.
