Kimi Raikkonen Wins Australian Grand Prix
Published at(MELBOURNE, Australia) — Kimi Raikkonen took home the checkered flag in Formula One’s season-opening Australian Grand Prix on Sunday.
The 33-year-old Raikkonen fended off challenges from Fernando Alonso and Sebastian Vettel to become the 15th driver in F1 history to win at least 20 races.
“A win’s a win, it doesn’t really matter how you get it,” Raikkonen said. “Of course I’m happy that we didn’t really have to go full speed all the time so it’s kind of a good sign, a good race for us, but as I said, it might be a completely different story in the next race.”
Raikkonen won the race by 12.4 seconds over Alonso and 22.2 seconds over Vettel.
