Local Soldiers Losing Tuition Assistance
Published at(POCATELLO, ID) — More than 100 Idaho National Guardsmen living in the region will lose their college financial aid next semester. The controversial sequester has left few government agencies untouched, and one of the hardest hit has been the military. Enlisted students at BYU-Idaho and Idaho State University won’t be able to apply for tuition assistance from the Army, Air Force or Marine Corps. The Navy is currently exploring options to keep funds available. Those affected will still be able to apply for federal Pell Grants and student loans.
