(NEW YORK) — A balanced breakfast is crucial to a child’s day, but too many children come from homes where a good breakfast is not guaranteed.
To help more children get a good start to the day, schools around the country will this week mark the annual National Breakfast Week in order to raise awareness about school breakfast programs.
The theme of the week, “Be a Star With School Breakfast,” highlights how a balanced breakfast can help students shine like their favorite celebrities.
National Breakfast Week was launched in 1989 to promote the school breakfast program and to educate the public about links between eating a good breakfast, academic achievement and healthy lifestyles.
