New Mexico State Wins Second Straight WAC Championship

SQUARESPACE CACHEVERSION=1363534430035Joe Robbins/Getty Images(LAS VEGAS) — Freshman center Sim Bhullar scored 16 points and pulled down 15 rebounds as New Mexico State (24-10, 14-4 WAC) defeated UT Arlington (19-13, 11-7 WAC), 64-55 on Saturday night to capture their second consecutive Western Athletic Conference championship and an automatic berth into the NCAA tournament.

Bhullar also had five blocks for the Aggies while teammate, sophomore guard Daniel Mullings contributed 16 points and six rebounds.

“I am just really happy the way that we were able to defend them, with the way that they were playing. Especially from the three point line,” New Mexico State head coach Marvin Menzies said. “

Senior forward Kevin Butler led the Mavericks with a team-high 13 points.
