Syracuse (22-7, 10-6), has now lost three-straight games, including two in a row at the Carrier Dome.

Hancock broke a 51-51 tie by hitting a huge three-pointer with 51 seconds left that proved to be the dagger.

“It’s big,” said Hancock, who hit four three-pointers for all of his points in the game. “This was like a tournament game. It was that kind of atmosphere. This prepares us well. It definitely gives us confidence going into the end of the season. We want to win out the rest of our games and this was another step.”

It was a revenge game for Louisville. The Cardinals lost to Syracuse 70-68 back in January on a game-winning dunk by Michael Carter-Williams in the final seconds.

The Orange won the rebounding battle 41-36 but allowed the Cardinals to make eight three-pointers. Gorgui Dieng chipped in 11 points and 14 boards.

C.J. Fair led the Orange with 19 points, while James Southerland scored 13.
