“Olympus Has Fallen,” “The Croods,” “Admission” Open Friday

Olympus Has Fallen: Gerard Butler is a former presidential guard tasked with saving the U.S. president, who is kidnapped when the White House is captured by a terrorist.  Aaron Eckhart, Morgan Freeman, Angela Bassett, Melissa Leo and Ashley Judd also star.  Rated R.  [Click here to read a review]

The Croods: In DreamWorks’ latest animated film, a prehistoric family is on the move after their cave is destroyed.  Nicolas Cage, Ryan Reynolds, Emma Stone, Catherine Keener, Cloris Leachman and Clark Duke lend their voices to the movie, which is screening in 3D.  Rated PG.

Admission: Tina Fey stars as a Princeton University admissions officer named Portia.  While on a recruiting trip, Portia runs into an old classmate — Paul Rudd’s character — who’s a teacher at an alternative school.  One of the students there is a boy who may be the son Portia gave up for adoption, and he’s set to apply to Princeton.  Rated PG-13.

And expanding into wide release:

Spring Breakers: Four college girls on spring break in Florida end up in jail, then are bailed out by a drug dealer, played by James Franco.  Selena Gomez, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Benson and Rachel Korine play the students.  Rated R.
