PMC Facing Monopoly Lawsuit

(POCATELLO, ID) — A lawsuit has been filed against Portneuf Medical Center alleging that the hospital monopolizes on anesthesiologists and overcharges patients. Terry Elquist, a medical consultant, says he faced pressure from the hospital that prevented him from starting a surgical center in the area. Elquist also claims that the hospital kept him from opening another medical consulting business. Attorneys for the hospital are asking for the suit to be dismissed, since Elquist was still able to start another business.
