iStockphoto/Thinkstock(WASHINGTON) — Health experts are sounding an alarm for millions of baby boomers and their families.

A study released Tuesday by the Alzheimer’s Association finds a staggering one in three people over the age of 65 now dies with Alzheimer’s or some type of dementia.

That’s an increase of about 70 percent over just the past decade.

While they are often not the cause of death, the diseases can speed up an older person’s decline.

Advocates say these figures prove the urgent need for more research.
