(We won’t mention the address to protect the victims’ privacy.)

According to TMZ, the website apparently exposes the Social Security numbers, addresses, phone numbers and even financial information for several celebrities, including Kim Kardashian, Ashton Kutcher, Beyonce and Jay-Z.  Some of the same information for political figures including Vice President Joe Biden and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton reportedly also appears on the site, along with that of Los Angeles Police Department Chief Charlie Beck.

“Today we were notified that it happened to a large group of celebrities here in Los Angeles as well as the chief of police,” said Los Angeles Police Commander Andrew Smith, who says they have experts in compute forensics investigating the case.

Smith said this sort of thing has happened before, but the department takes each incident very seriously.

“This happens periodically; usually folks associated with Anonymous or one of these other outfits will get a hold of some private information about one of our employees and post it on the website,” he said.

It’s uncertain who might be behind the site, or how much of the information is authentic, but ABC News confirmed Monday that at least one of the listed phone numbers did belong to one of the apparent victims of the hacking.

The FBI said Monday that it is aware of the website.
