Andrus has played his entire MLB career for the Rangers. He has played in two World Series but never won one.

I love to play here,” Andrus said. “This is my family. I’m not going to rest and sleep until I get that World Series ring.”

The contract will keep the 24-year-old Andrus, who was signed through the 2014 season,  in Texas through at least 2018. Andrus can then opt-out of his contract at the end of the ’18 season or the ’19 season. If he chooses to stay after ’19, Andrus will be with the team until ’22. The unusual clause is there to give Andrus the option of becoming a free agent before he’s 30.
“You don’t get too many star-caliber, homegrown 24-year-old players that are going to have the options he’s going to have when he hits free agency. So we were willing to do something we don’t normally do,” Rangers general manager Jon Daniels said.
Andrus is in his fifth major league season. During that time he has hit .275, scored 343 runs and stole 123 bases.
