(DENVER) — The Atlanta Braves placed outfielder Jason Heyward on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday after the former All-Star underwent surgery for an appendectomy.
The 23-year-old Heyward had the operation late Monday at Rose Medical Center in Denver, according to the team.
In 17 games this year, Heyward is batting .121 with two home runs and five RBIs. He’s in his fourth season with the Braves, who drafted him out of high school with the 14th overall pick in the 2007 MLB draft.
To fill Heyward’s roster spot, Atlanta brought up infielder Tyler Pastornicky from Triple-A Gwinnett.
