Bush family matriarch Barbara Bush said she’s not in favor of a 2016 presidential run by her youngest son, Jeb Bush.

“There are other people out there that are very qualified and we’ve had enough Bushes,” she told NBC’s Matt Lauer.

Jeb Bush has not said if he will seek the presidency.

“He’ll get half of our friends and all of our enemies,” she added, referring to the possibility of family baggage getting in the way of a successful 2016 presidential candidacy.

Her assertions are at odds with the beliefs of her eldest son, former President George W. Bush, who was vocal in urging his brother to run.

“He’d be a marvelous candidate if he chooses to do so.  He doesn’t need my counsel ’cause he knows what it is, which is run,” the former president told ABC’s Diane Sawyer earlier this week.

Barbara Bush admitted that her youngest son would be the best fit for the office of commander in chief, but maintained her opinion that he should not run.

“He’s by the far the best qualified man, but no,” she said.
