Gallinari’s left knee buckled inward when he drove to the basket for a layup during the first half of the team’s game against the Dallas Mavericks. He gave up the ball, grabbed his knee in pain and had to hop to the sidelines. He eventually had to be helped off the court by Timofey Mozgov and Quincy Miller.

While the team has yet to make any sort of announcement, ESPN is reporting that the team fears he tore his ACL.

“You never want to see anybody go down, but especially a guy like Gallo that’s so important to us,” Nuggets forward Corey Brewer said. “So, it’s tough. But we have to fight through it. It’s going to be tough on us, but we’ve got to just keep playing hard.”

The Nuggets currently have the third-best record in the Western Conference.

This season, the 24-year-old Gallinari is averaging 16.2 points per game and is the team’s second-leading scorer.
