Girls Halfway Around the World Might Be Separated at Birth

Kickstarter(NEW YORK) — It all began with one YouTube clip.
When Anais Bordier, a French fashion student living in London, first saw actress Samantha Futerman featured in a three minute, comedic sketch, she says it was like “looking back at myself.”
The South Korea native had grown up an only child, adopted by a French family when she was just 3 months old. But when she saw Futerman again in the film 21 & Over, Bordier knew she had to learn more. Futerman was also a South Korea native who grew up in New Jersey and now lives in Los Angeles.
Google searches revealed Futerman had also been adopted. The two, both 25, shared the same birth date: Nov. 19, 1987. That led Bordier to reach out to her look-alike on Facebook.
“At first glance, I only saw my face staring back from her profile picture,” Futerman says. “After just a few clicks and a personal message from Anais, I knew I was about to embark on a journey that no one else had ventured before…I was positive that this girl was in fact my biological twin sister.”
Anais and Futerman connected through Skype, and quickly learned they shared much more than looks. Futerman writes they both have “a twisted sense of humor, a love of cheese, and an apparent Napoleon complex.”
The two have now launched a fundraising campaign on Kickstarter, the popular crowdfunding website that helps launch creative projects. The money will be use to pay for a reunion trip to Europe, a DNA test, and cover the cost of a small production team that will document their journey every step of the way. They’ve gained more than 800 backers, and raised more than $34,000 in just two weeks. They still have 15 more days to go.
Futerman spent her childhood far away from Europe. She was adopted by an American family, and moved from South Korea to Verona, N.J., where she grew up with two older brothers. Now an actress, Futerman lives in Los Angeles where she’s appeared in TV shows and movies, including Memoirs of a Geisha and 21 & Over, according to IMDB.
Now her own life story is sounding like something straight out of Hollywood.
“I have been given the chance to start a new journey in life. One that includes my first living blood relative, and my potential identical match,” Futerman says in her Kickstarter video. “This is our story. How it unfolds, I have no idea, but I can’t wait to find out.”
