Immigration Reform Bill to Be Introduced in Senate Tuesday
Published at(WASHINGTON) — An immigration reform bill is expected to be introduced in the Senate on Tuesday, ABC News has confirmed.
Sources in the House and Senate say the bill will include a pathway to citizenship but will contain a cutoff date of December 2011. According to the sources, this is a GOP idea designed to only allow those undocumented immigrants already assimilated into the community to stay.
On the House side, members of their secret “Gang of Eight” will continue to meet daily next week to produce their own bill, which now has a cutoff date of January 2011 for citizenship.
