Iranian Supreme Leader Condemns Boston Marathon Bombing
Published at(TEHRAN, Iran) — Iran’s supreme leader has condemned the bombings at the Boston Marathon that left three people dead and more than 170 others injured.
In a statement to Iranian military leaders, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said on Wednesday that his country opposes the killing of innocent people, whether it takes place in the U.S. or anywhere else in the world.
However, Khamenei did not end his comments with just condolences to the American people.
The ayatollah claimed that “the Western civilization is on the verge of collapse due to contradictory, illogical, and tyrannical (policies) and a disregard for moral principles.”
Khamenei also accused the U.S. government of supporting “terrorists” in Iraq and Syria, two allies of Iran, and for allegedly refusing to speak out against the killing of innocent people throughout the Middle East.
