(NEW YORK) — During the MTV Movie Awards Sunday night, the anticipated teaser for the sequel The Hunger Games: Catching Fire premiered.
The snippet shows that surviving the games was just the beginning of the troubles for Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence’s Katniss Everdeen and Josh Hutcherson’s Peeta Mellark.
“She has become a beacon of home for them,” Donald Sutherland’s calculating ruler President Snow says of Katniss and her downtrodden District 12 fanbase. “She has to be eliminated.”
Philip Seymour Hoffman’s character Plutarch Heavensbee coldly responds, “I think she should die but in the right way, at the right time…You don’t have to destroy her, just her image…They’re going to hate her so much they might just kill her for you.”
Catching Fire, based on the second book of Suzanne Collins’ Hunger Games trilogy, hits theaters on Nov. 22.
