Now it is trying to please the masses with a new product: boneless, skinless pieces of white and dark meat available across the country starting April 14.

Rick Maynard, spokesman for KFC, assured ABC News that the company is only adding to its menu and not taking anything away from it.  ”We’ll still have Original Recipe” with the bones, he said.

KFC Corp., based in Louisville, and a subsidiary of Yum! Brands, has more than 17,000 KFC outlets in more than 115 countries and territories in the world.  The company says more than 13 million people visit a KFC restaurant in the U.S. each week.

“We’ve never seen such positive reaction to a test product,” said KFC U.S. president John Cywinski of the new Original Recipe Boneless. Extra Crispy fans take note, the company says there’s no plans to offer the boneless in that version.

KFC will air two 30-second commercials the week before the food launch as part of its “I Ate the Bones!” marketing campaign. The commercials were directed by David O. Russell of Silver Linings Playbook, nominated recently for an Oscar for Best Director.
