Hiroki Kuroda was excellent on Sunday night, pitching a five-hit shutout to lead the Yankees to a 3-0 win over the Baltimore Orioles.

Kuroda (2-1) struck out five and walked only one, while getting a combined 18 Oriole hitters to ground out.

“I thought his sinker was excellent,” Yankees manager Joe Girardi said. “Look at all the groundball outs he got.”

Brett Gardner hit a two-run home run in the 5th inning for the Yankees, who improved to 6-5 on the year and took two-of-three from Baltimore.

Orioles starter Wei-Yin Chen (0-2) took the loss.
