Nathaniel Fimone fell from the observation deck of the 102-story Manhattan skyscraper on Wednesday night, just before midnight, New York Police Department Detective Mark Nell told ABC News.

“He jumped from the 86th floor and landed on a catwalk just below it, between the 86th and 85th floors,” Nell said.

According to eyewitnesses who spoke with the New York Daily News, Fimone, once he was on the catwalk, swung his legs into the air as if he meant to drop again.

It is unclear if Fimone’s fall from the 86th floor was intentional. Calls placed to the offices of the Empire State Building by ABC News were not immediately returned.

After he was escorted away by emergency service officers, Fimone was taken to New York’s Bellevue hospital, according to the FDNY.

Fimone is now facing charges of reckless endangerment, criminal trespass and disorderly conduct, according to Nell.
