“Marvel’s The Avengers” Wins Top Prize at MTV Movie Awards

Jeff Kravitz/FilmMagic(CULVER CITY, Calif.) -- Nearly a year after its release, Marvel's The Avengers proved to be the big winner at Sunday's 2013 MTV Movie Awards.

The superhero film claimed three golden popcorn trophies in all, including movie of the year.  The winner was announced by Brad Pitt at a ceremony broadcast from Sony Studios in Culver City, Calif.

The Avengers also received awards for best fight and best villain for Tom Hiddleston, who played Loki.

Host Rebel Wilson picked up two awards herself: best breakthrough performance and best musical moment, both for Pitch Perfect.  She shared the latter with her castmates, who helped her perform a musical number during her opening monologue.

Wilson kicked off the broadcast with a pre-recorded intro featuring James Franco in which she flew to the ceremony in an Iron Man costume.

Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, Samuel L. Jackson and Jamie Foxx were also among the double winners.

Foxx accepted the Generation Award; Will Ferrell was given the first-ever Comedic Genius Award; and Emma Watson was presented with the Trailblazer Award.
