Medical Marijuana School Opens in Nevada

David McNew/Getty Images(NEW YORK) — In another sign of the changing times, a medical marijuana school has opened in Henderson, Nev.
After holding workshops in states where doctor-prescribed pot has been approved, the Cannabis Career Institute (CCI) is now teaching Nevadans how to operate a successful medical marijuana dispensary.
Among other things, several dozen students this past weekend learned the ins and outs of growing grass legally as well as the intricacies of baking the drug in brownies, cookies and cakes.
However, while the CCI believes the school will be successful in Nevada, it could be as long as a year before the first medical marijuana dispensary opens in the state.
Nevada voters actually approved use of medical marijuana 13 years ago, but it only was during the past week that a state Senate panel approved a bill that would allow dispensaries to open.
