Michael Jackson’s Doctor Appeals Involuntary Manslaughter Conviction

David McNew-Pool/Getty Images(LOS ANGELES) — Michael Jackson’s jailed doctor has filed an appeal in connection with his November 2011 involuntary manslaughter conviction.
Lawyers for Conrad Murray claim in court documents that there were multiple legal errors during Murray’s trial. Specifically, the lawyers argue there was insufficient proof that Murray administered to Jackson the dose of the powerful anesthetic propofol that claimed the King of Pop’s life.
Jackson died in June 2009 at the age of 50.
If his conviction is upheld, Murray’s attorneys want his four-year sentence reduced.
Meanwhile, jury selection concluded Monday in Los Angeles in a trial stemming from a wrongful death lawsuit brought by Jackson’s mother against concert promoter AEG Live.
Katherine Jackson is suing the company, which was behind the singer’s aborted This Is It tour, for $40 billion. She claims AEG contributed to her son’s death by hiring Murray.
