(NEW YORK) — Third baseman Ryan Zimmerman was placed on the 15-day disabled list with strained left hamstring, the Washington Nationals announced Saturday.
To Nationals called up prized infield prospect Anthony Rendon from Double-A Harrisburg to take Zimmerman’s place.
Rendon, who the Nationals selected with the sixth pick in the 2011 MLB Draft, is hitting .292 with two homers, seven RBIs and a .462 on-base-percentage this season.
Zimmerman is hitting .226 with one homer and 11 RBIs this season.
