Nnamdi Asomugha Agrees to Join 49ers
Published at(SAN FRANCISCO) –Nnamdi Asomugha is headed back to the bay area.
The 31-year-old Asomugha has agreed to a one-year deal with the San Francisco 49ers that is worth up to $3 million.
Asomugha played his first eight-seasons in the NFL for the Oakland Raiders where he was a three-time Pro Bowler. In 2011 he signed a five-year, $60 million contract with the Philadelphia Eagles, where he was deemed a disappointment, eventually leading to his release this offseason.
While Asomugha has played almost his entire NFL career at cornerback, it is conceivable he’ll be moved to safety. The Niners lost Pro Bowl safety Dashon Goldson to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this offseason and need to replace him.
Asomugha played safety for most of his college career at California.
