On Monday, the White House launched its first ever video on Vine, the Twitter app designed to let users upload six seconds of original video and share it with friends.

To kick off the White House Science Fair, Obama’s communications staff posted a greeting from Bill Nye of Bill Nye the Science Guy and Reading Rainbow’s Levar Burton.

Launched in January, Vine users embed their video in a tweet.  It then plays continuously.

After the White House’s first Vine, it went on to post four more throughout the day, including the president’s own debut. The video showed the president pedaling a bike to power a water filtration system, designed by two teenage girls from Oakland Park, Fla.

The White House Twitter account already features embedded media from other sources like YouTube videos and Flickr photos.
